Shakespeare Meets Millwood

Enrollment: 4th-8th

Dates: Session V: July 19-23

Instructor: Richmond Shakespeare

Shakespeare meets elementary and middle school students? Can it be done? Absolutely! Richmond Shakespeare (producer of the annual Shakespeare Festival at Agecroft Hall and resident of CenterStage) brings its interactive and accessible way with Shakespeare to young players. Students band together as a troupe of players learning about Elizabethan England and Shakespeare, as they learn an entire play (abbreviated) to be performed at the end of the session. Meanwhile they learn valuable skills: cooperation, focus, memorization, the ability to talk in front of an audience and self discipline, as well as acquiring an increased vocabulary and hopefully a love for the stories and words of Shakespeare.
