Computer Skills for 21st Century Learners

Enrollment: 4th-8th

Dates: Session III: July 6-9

Instructor: Mindy Starr

It's a fact - more and more schools require students to submit highly polished, typed documents, create slideshow presentations, and complete Internet research at home. While this generation can out-text us thumbs down, Google anything under the sun in a split second, and play online internet games with other kids around the world, most of them are not quite so adept at double spacing, inserting page numbers, and applying the dreaded hanging indent. There is hope, however, if your child still types with one finger! In this high-energy, hands-on class, students will learn keyboarding and word processing skills essential for success in school; learn Internet research skills; and become familiar with the ins and outs of Cyber Ethics, including social networking safety. This class is also a great idea for students who struggle with handwriting skills.

Spanish Immersion

Enrollment: 4th-7th

Dates: Session VI: July 26-30

Instructor: Blanca Dompke

Experience the Spanish language every minute of the week through this immersion experience! While learning vocabulary and basic communication, we will also delve into a study of geography, music, technology, and art through enjoying projects and games. You will be surprised by your progress in speaking and understanding the beautiful Spanish language at the end of the week.
