Millwood builds a firm foundation of academic skills and knowledge by providing students with the tools and environment for learning and discovery. Every grade level has a rigorous core curriculum of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. The core curriculum is enhanced with instruction in foreign languages, technology, art, music, and physical education. In addition, students have multiple opportunities each year to participate in public speaking events, concerts and plays.

The very best time to learn a foreign language is in childhood. Accordingly, our instruction begins in kindergarten. We offer courses in Spanish, French and Japanese at different grade levels.

Students use computers in the classroom starting in kindergarten. Specialized instruction in our computer laboratory enhances their proficiency and allows them to take full advantage of technology in their studies.

Students at all levels take weekly classes in studio art and music. Those in fifth through ninth grades may also participate in the school ensemble or chorus. These aspects of the curriculum foster creativity, artistic accomplishment, and appreciation of the fine arts.

Millwood views courses in foreign language, technology, art, and music as integral parts of the curriculum, not as add-ons. Our integrated curriculum offers and richly-textured, dynamic and flexible course of study that promotes intellectual growth and creativity.
