Testimonials

Every week we have the pleasure of receiving positive feedback from our parents and students. We are proud to share some of these comments with you.

If you would like to speak to current families or students about their experiences at Millwood, please mention this to the admissions staff, who will happily arrange it.
"What distinguished Millwood was that when we sat down with the admissions staff, the first thing they asked was "Tell me about your child". Obviously the focus was on the child, and we were sold." - T.C., parent

"Enrolling our son in middle school at Millwood is one of the best decisions we ever made. He is happy and creatively inspired, He is aware that his teachers are committed to bringing out his best. He clearly appreciates this opportunity as a gift, and is very thankful." A.R., middle school parent

"In the month my daughter has been at Millwood, the change has been immeasurable. She has blossomed into a bright, energetic young lady, willing to try anything. Her reading skills, which were almost nonexistent, are now further ahead than we could have ever imagined. The "I can't" in her vocabulary has been replaced with "I will try"." - B.B., kindergarten parent

"Millwood is unique in the way it celebrates each child as an individual. Talents are applauded, moral character is encouraged, sports are supported, and of course, academics are a top priority." - S.B., parent

"We are very happy and impressed with Millwood's ability to instill in all students moral and civil conduct, and an optimistic outlook. We are thrilled to watch our son become more excited about learning." - R.H., parent of new 5th grade student

"Millwood helped me open my mind a lot more, and I feel more interactive. I've made a lot more friends than at my old school." - J.H., new 5th grade student

"The school is an exceptional environment for my children. The teachers, the administration and staff exude care, concern and love toward all the families." B.K., parent

"We were very pleased with the way Millwood tailors instruction to each student's individual needs. The small classes allowed our son to excel in subjects which came easily to him, yet receive individual help in areas that were difficult. He learned how to study and developed skills which he has applied in high school and beyond." - J.R., parent of alumni

"Thank you for the opportunity to attend such a wonderful school. My son is so happy at the end of every day. He says his classes are a challenge, and he likes his brain to be working that hard! He is thrilled with all his new friends. The transition has been an easy one." M.M., 2nd grade parent

"Millwood provides kids with so many opportunities. If they take advantage of them, they learn, grow, and build the good habits which help them to continue to learn and grow after they leave Millwood." - A.A., parent of alumni

"Millwood School provides a variety of teaching methods for the variety of learning styles. My third grader learned about the different types of clouds by going outside and laying on the ground and looking up. His teacher was on the ground with the students and explained things from their point of view." - L.M., parent

“You can feel the enthusiasm the minute you walk in the door. The teachers and the kids are truly excited about learning.” – M.N., parent

"I love teaching second grade at Millwood School. The children are bright, witty, and eager learners. Their parents make me feel valued as a professional, and as the caretaker of their children. At the moment, my class is writing a book that is a tale of opposites - the best and worst things about second grade. The best things they have come up with cover everything, and include studying China and Egypt, field trips, long recesses, and my stories. They had problems thinking of worst things. One was when I was absent! I truly look forward to coming to work each morning and I wouldn't be any other place." - 2nd Grade Teacher

“Millwood gives children the chance to be the best they can be. The school gives every child the opportunity to shine.” – L. N., Parent

“My daughter entered Millwood in Middle School. From the beginning I was impressed with the high standards Millwood sets for its students, not only in academics, but also in relationships and behavior. I saw that students do rise to meet the higher bar.” – D. K., parent

"Most of our students understand that excellence, in any subject, takes time and honest hard work.  These children will find success in life and it makes me very happy to have made a contribution toward that end." - Middle School Teacher

“I have had three children at Millwood. To me it is more than a school. It’s an amazing community of teachers, students, and families that I am proud to be a part of” – C.S., parent, former trustee

"My children have benefitted from the public speaking and participation in plays. This begins in kindergarten and gives the children self-confidence. They are not afraid to get up and speak in front of strangers." - L.M., parent

“Millwood is an extension of our family. It fosters success, strength, and a love of learning.” – S.N., parent

“Very apparent is the genuine love your parents and grandparents have for the school.” – D.C., VAIS Visitor

"I have learned that lessons in the classroom spill out onto the soccer field and other athletic fields, and vica versa. The key for any athlete is to always be obedient, disciplined, respectful, and hardworking. These 4 qualities should ALWAYS be present in any sport you choose to play. And these 4 qualities can also be found in each of the Millwood Big Ten. Millwood helped me to find my way on the playing field, and in the classroom, by instilling discipline, respect, and the willingness to work hard." M.R. Class of 2004

“Millwood fosters a learning environment while establishing a high degree of accountability to self, teachers, parents and the community. We are so impressed by how the Big 10 and VIP’s are integrated into the curriculum and woven into the fabric of each child’s character.” – M. W., parent.

“We were very impressed with the way Millwood approaches character development in the students through a holistic process that is modeled by faculty, staff and administration. You truly develop the intellect, the body, and the moral character of the students as they journey through their formative years in a safe and loving environment. The overall calmness of the students, and the noticeable level of respect you have for each other, were also remarkable.” – D. C., VAIS Visitor

"The teachers at Millwood School are outstanding - talented, dynamic, and caring. Their concern for each student is genuine. Their enthusiasm for learning is contagious." - C.W., parent of alumni

"In just three days Millwood has already lived up to many of the expectations we had when we decided to move our children to Millwood. You have a very strong, and yet very nurturing staff, and who take into consideration the entire child, rather than just their academic education. Thank you for being so supportive of us as we transition into a new school." - L.G., parent
