Thank you for your interest in Millwood School. Millwood School is a young, growing school, and welcomes applicants with appropriate degrees and experience. We are a JK-12, college preparatory, independent, co-ed day school. Our salary and benefits are competitive with local public and private schools. 


Persons applying for teaching positions at Millwood should hold a Virginia teaching license and have at least two years of full-time paid teaching experience in the desired grade level. It is desirable for JK-2 applicants to have an Early Childhood endorsement, and for Middle and Upper School applicants to have subject area endorsement. Masters degrees are preferred.

Instructional Opportunities for 2019-20

Part-time position for experienced teacher in all areas of language arts. Instructor will be working with both middle and upper school students.  Must be willing to attend the AP Seminar Institute this summer in order to teach this course to upper school students.
Part-time position for experienced teacher in Levels 1-4 and AP Spanish.
Millwood School seeks a part-time Lead Teacher in our Extended Day Program for students in Grades JK-8. Our after-school program is licensed and regulated by the Virginia Department of Social Services. This is a part-time, non-benefitted position. During the school year, our lead teacher generally works from 3:30 p.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities include:
  • Supervising small groups and assisting 1st-8th grade students complete homework assignments
  • Facilitating a variety of activities including, but not limited to indoor/outdoor play, arts and crafts, and online math or language arts practice
  • Actively supervising children during a wide variety of enrichment activities
  • Help maintain a safe, clean and cozy learning and play environment for students
Qualities of a successful candidate include:
  • Have previous experience working with children ages 4-12 in a group setting
  • Consistently demonstrate kindness, patience and respect toward students, parents and colleagues
  • Demonstrate high levels of flexibility, a strong work ethic, and a team-oriented attitude, ready and willing to step in and help in any way needed
  • Exhibit professionalism, timeliness and a positive attitude
Preferred qualifications:

Hold a degree in a child-related field, preferably early childhood, elementary or secondary education

Non-Teaching Opportunities for 2019-20

Advancement and Fund-Raising Responsibilities:
  • Plans and optimizes the school’s fund-raising programs such as the annual fund, capital campaigns, planned giving, and major events.
  • Supervises the school's development efforts in identifying, cultivating, thanking, and communicating with past and prospective donors.
  • Oversees the school’s relations with its alumni including development and maintenance of the alumni database, communications programs, and special events.
  • Supervises all volunteer efforts such as those donated by individuals or the parents’ association, booster clubs, alumni council, etc., all of which report to the Head of School or his/her designee
Seeking experienced CDL holding bus drivers.  The driver will transport students to field trips and athletic events.
