Students shine under the bright lights!

Our after school drama program is for grades 4-12 and takes place during the spring semester. Students audition for roles and engage in musical and choreography rehearsals twice a week from January through April. We are proud to partner with the Perkinson Center for Performing Arts to host our spring musical. Students work on every aspect of the spring musical, from costuming to lighting to sound to dancing to moving and making set pieces. Our most recent productions have been Shrek and Matilda Jr.
Students in grades 8-12 can elect to take a drama class, which will ask students to expand upon their acting introduction and take on various characters and roles in Millwood productions.

Upper school students in this class will explore characterization within dialogue and blocking, stage presence, pacing, physical comedy and dramatics, and vocal work.
Students will also learn how to critically analyze performances of themselves and others in order to reflect upon and improve their skills. Working collaboratively with each other and the Stagecraft and Theater Production class, students will produce live theatrical performances during the 3rd quarter of the year in our own Robinson Hall, and then students will finish the year with individual or small group acting exercises.
