Middle School is a time for sharing and growing. Thus, our 7th graders created a vertical garden/shelf in which every student hand painted lovely terracotta planters and also enjoyed a sunny spring afternoon planting together outside! The students carefully selected the design and color scheme which in turn, reflects their sense of individuality as well as portraying a sense of harmony within the group.
We also adopted a garden bed behind Founder's Hall which we will be working on throughout the spring. In this way, the gala and the class project will be aligned under the theme of "growing together as a class." The goal is to create meaningful, shared community-building experiences for the 7th grade class. #WonderlandGala #MillwoodSchool
Boys' Varsity Baseball took to the diamond for its first home game of the season against The New Community School (TNCS). Led by 9th grader Griffin Aktalay on the mound, the Bobcats stormed out to a 6-0 first inning which paved the way for a big win on Camp Field. Next up, an away contest against The Carmel School. Good luck Millwood School! #MillwoodAthletics #MillwoodSchool
Mrs. Taillon's kindergarten students have been studying pond life and had a wonderful time examining their class pet "Dudette" for their scientific observations. Way to go! #LowerSchool #MillwoodSchool
Coach Trimiew
Xavier Trimiew has been coaching basketball for over 30 years. Xavier is currently the President of Underground Phenoms Richmond basketball. He has served as assistant varsity coach at Hanover HS as well as Head JV Coach. He is a graduate of Averett University, where he was a four-year starter on the men's basketball team. During his basketball career at Averett, Xavier earned all Dixie Conference honors, while achieving Academic All-American status.
Xavier started his coaching career in 1986 with Reston Youth Basketball, and was a mainstay in the development of local talent in the Reston area. Such names as Grant Hill (NBA Hall of Fame), Joey Beard (Barcelona Spain Euro league), Doug Mcloughlin-Williams (Derby Trailblazers, UK) and Lansdale McAllen (Florida International) have played on teams that Xavier has coached.
Xavier returned home to the Richmond area in 2004 and has picked up where he left off developing young talent such as Jalen Hudson ( Florida), Jacob Kessler (Army), Alexander Petrie (Lafayette) and Alden Parham (VMI). Xavier's coaching career has produced many winning teams, but more importantly, his players have gone on to achieve great heights on and off the court.
Xavier's commitment to excellence and his desire to teach kids will help make Millwood School basketball one of the top boy's basketball programs in Virginia.
Millwood is large enough for your child to develop social skills, yet small enough to ensure each individual is heard. We’re large enough to have diversity, yet small enough for your child to experience it. We’re large enough to provide resources for your child to explore their passion, yet small enough to give individualized attention.
Mission Statement
